NYSC Review Collaboration with National Health Insurance Scheme

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has renew its determination to review an existing collaboration with National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) on the provision of free healthcare services to corps members.

The information is in a statement issued on the 11th of December in Abuja by Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, Director, Press and Public Relations of NYSC.

With this development all Corp members will be able to benefit from the free health scheme provided by the National Health Insurance Scheme.

Mrs Adeyemi stated that, the Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim made this known today while hosting the Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Prof. Mohammed Nasir Sambo in his office.

The synergy between the two establishments dated back to year 2017 when the Federal Government directed that all Corps Members must be enrolled in the NHIS.

The DG, who re-echoed the Scheme’s zero tolerance for night journey for Corps Members said there is the need for urgent attention towards the health needs of the Corps Members.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Prof, Mohammed Nasir Sambo commended General Ibrahim on his appointment as the 18th DG of NYSC.

He also lauded NYSC Management for its efforts in preventing unqualified graduates from participating in National Service and enlightenment on the dangers of service evasion.

The CEO of NHIS stated that the Scheme would deploy everything within its reach to ensure that Nigerians have access to qualitative healthcare.

He hinted that the NHIS would consolidate on its previous achievements and also device new strategies as it is reaching out to all organisations in the country to enrol for its services.

Sambo added that the NHIS is also making efforts on how Nigerians on foreign mission would be covered by its activities.

Steps to Register for National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS)

  • Visit the Registration link at nhisonline.com.ng
  • Click on “Register” as a new member and make sure you Supply all the required details correctly
  • Old user will click on “Login” using your username and Password
  • You will need to fill in your NHIS number, surname, and date of birth for online account registration. 

I implore all Corp Members to register for this scheme so that you will reduce the cost of hospital treatment if needed during your service year.
